Unlimited Internet
access is the future since people practically reside online and constantly
looking for ways to cut costs and save at every chance they get! But presenting
such a service to an already struggling economy is even better.
Black Berry’s
phenomenal success in South Africa and Southern Africa is based on the fact
that it is the leader of the pack when it comes to unlimited Internet access.
Mtn was trying to catch up on this niche by introducing
their R29 unlimited Facebook browsing and mixit and other related products (although Cell C still gives free access to Mixit).
This must have come about after their previous “application” on Facebook where
consumers were directed to the application to view their data usage and how
much they were spending on social networks alone.
Considering how many pictures are uploaded on to the social
network, a 3G phone will use up your airtime in no time at all hence data
bundles come in handy with reduced cost per megabyte. A targeted data product
will prove useful when consumers who are financially enlightened and aware of
where their money is going would opt for.
Cell C has introduced
an offer worth considering as well, the data bundle prices have gone so low
that even students can afford them, and can stay online for longer. R7.50 for
50 megabytes is worth a penny.
There is no denying that students keep discovering new
social networks that some of us know nothing about. Even Zuckerburg came up
with his own Social network (Facebook) together with his peers and managed to
turn it into a giant social network that it is today.
But having unlimited Internet access in this day or in South
Africa for that matter is really worth considering since some of us are
introverts and like to be connected to the outer world and be up to date with
developments. Not forgetting the economic challenges we have and living by
one’s means, the financially conscious would go the unlimited route. We have so
much to choose from now.
And finally after doing away with BIS (Blackberry Internet
Service) MTN customers were expressing dissatisfaction with their service
provider which led to the network giant loosening their restrictions. In my
opinion, they should (SA Networks) have a chunk out of blackberry success by
acquiring certain privileges of which in a way it does give them as much
exposure in terms of brand recognition.
