How to save Airtime and Data on Windows 10

If you are new to Windows 10 you might suffer a data onslaught from apps you dont need to games you might never play.

It is all part of an experience Microsoft is trying to provide customers but for those on a tight data budget it's just a hard pill to swallow. Updates are automatic in windows 10 so, you cannot opt out.  It does not have to be a nightmare though if you apply a few fixes.

There are two options to save you and your data from some of those data hungry apps that are also set to automatically update.

If you like them, then it is wiser to visit the windows store and shop around. If you are not into them and wanna get straight to what matters to you and save time and money.

First one is, If you want to gain some control on your data, downloads and updates, one of the apps to monitor is the windows store: Go to store settings as shown in the illustration below...

Second option: Click on Network and Internet on the computer settings. Click directly on your connection, whether it is wifi, mobile broadband or ethernet if it is active or go to connection properties if not connected. Go for the Metered Connection and turn it on.
You will be all set then...
I wont encourage you to avoid updates as this option will stop updates beind downloaded automatically except for critical updates which will download regardless. Rather seek wifi hotspots or data promotions where you can get all your updates to be safe. Enjoy

Speeding UP a PC!

THINGS TO CONSIDER FOR SPEEDING UP A PC

A lot of Computer components and accessories to consider that go into speeding up a pc include the HDD, the CPU and the RAM and the capable main board and graphics card to go with them. Any weakling is a liability to other components. Most manufacturers dish out entry level PCs knowing very well newbies who do not look into those aspects will be stuck with an almost useless pc which is rather relevant to children who watch movies only or play a couple of games and do very little activity that will be demanding to the CPU, HDD or RAM.

Buying a pc with a memory which is not upgradable like a 2 gigabyte ram is such a waste, I would recommend atleast 4GB ram on a computer running Windows 10. An internet explorer alone is enough to put a 2gb memory fitted computer in a frozen state. Why exactly are entry level devices being sold really? Same goes for smartphones that do not have ample space to install basic apps.

In all the PCs I have fixed, most of the HDD utilizations is always at a high of 100%. There are just a couple of things I should abstain from using or it will freeze until I choose to forcefully shut it down… say after more than half an hour. 5400 rpm for a drive just doesn’t cut it, try SSD coupled with relevant hardware if you have cash to spare or really need speed.

Capacitate it or practice patience... You can do a couple other things while waiting, but I have such a terrible memory, I would have forgotten what was the purpose by the time it's back on! I have to keep my diary in check.

Reviews and Forums go together

I was checking out an app on google play just the other day while i was rather searching for more information on the website itself about international money transfer. I believe most app developers who care about their inventions would usually follow up with a response to a negative review trying to find out what the customer expects as opposed to what the app can deliver.

The reviews range from good to terrible, app hangs to useless app ever. It's a pity we don't go through FAQ's when encountering a problem, we throw a tantrum immediately. That's just us, we're human.

But how do developers make use of forums, when they have a customer service centre that can handle queries. Unless of course it's a major corporation and you have to submit a ticket and wait forever. Forever in a sense that if not provided a link to follow up on a query you will stay a while longer waiting for a response whereas it has already been posted in our online account but no notification has been provided.

Most companies have a forum managed by experienced technicians employed by the company, but for a small player a prototype can be discarded at its early stages due to lack of resources.

I think for most developers speaking from a client point of view, the best option is to have some sort of forum where some issues which become reviews are directed for quick remedial action. It would help the app get positive ratings instead. Get an expert to continuously engage with customers/users and provide advice, some overlooked terms and conditions, usage do's and don'ts, so that expectations are clear and transparent because this is where the lion should worry about the opinions of the sheep.

How is the South African Rand doing against other Currencies

Was just talking with a friend about forex and trading on all those currencies with all the hype around the news and economy trembling events.

Regardless, I think I should hold on to those few dollars until such time that the currency becomes favourable for me to get more "value" from this transaction. I don't do forex trading, I am still learning why it's so complicated or not. But, with some common sense in this regard one can at least get a decent return on cashing foreign currencies. Which brings me to this conclusion that now is not really a good time to head for the exchange to trade a South African Rand yet.

I am into crypto currencies and have been following the news regarding the trends. My debut is soon, expert advice or personal experiences anyone... :/

Entrepreneurship should be a way of life

Entrepreneurship should be taught in schools, even at home. We can't say we are independent as long as we depend on a job to survive. The daily race to scrape some to get nowhere fast should really be looked at differently. Even though we are not really ready and capable to own up and take the lead, all we have is a glimpse of possibilities which have not yet been explored. The main reason behind that is fear. It could be fear of failure or fear that comes from lack of confidence. Regardless of how far we have progressed, if you haven't learnt any entrepreneurial skills, it's overdue. Start with Entrepreneur Academy today and get a few extras onto the course which also include mentoring.

The course fee includes a "Business-in-a-Box"; this is a bundle of resources that the Student will receive, FOR FREE, and includes:

• A company registration

• Register the business as an Employer

• Register the business for Income Tax

• Assistance with opening a Bank Account

• BEE Affidavit (Exempt micro enterprise)

• Tax Clearance Certificate

• Management Accounts

...and also a FREE Business Plan Template (in Module 3)

Now all of the above is WORTH MORE than the COST OF THE WHOLE COURSE !!!

Start here, In a journey that could possibly alter your circumstances. If you don't start today, to learn because manifestation process of what you learn usually takes time, you are delaying your progress. There are a lot of people who after loosing a job are clueless as to what to do with their savings and end up broke, some invest in businesses without proper skills and knowledge of the busines they intend to start. Clearly, it shows how important Entrepreneurship training is to all who will someday be jobless or retired and you have a basic knowledge of running a business successfully or even assessing success prospects before throwing money away...  Can you honestly say that the time to start isn't now..

Dating Evolution

Courtesy of detonators:

Dating back in the 30s, 50s and 70s was just like online dating today because it was convenient. It's like asking  someone "will you marry me" publicly on a stadium display or a chopper with the words written on to something that can be lowered to show who it is meant for. Some would say it is cute, others will shout sheer desperation.

Whatever the case may be. It was probably the hottest thing back then.

BBBEE Compliance

If you did complete the CSD (Central Supplier Database) registration yourself for your company then you have to be a little bit familiar with the requirements of BBBEE compliance as it takes you through the interrogation process regarding the state of your company with those key elements taken into consideration:

• Decision  makers,
• Shareholding,
• Women  involvement,
• Are there any disabled people in the ownership and decision making processes,
• Total black ownership,
• Skills development,
• Community development
• Including whether you made money in excess of R10 million during a financial year.

And this information can be used to complete your BBBEE affidavit recognised by the DTi  (Department of Trade and industry) codes of good practice as an empowering supplier.

An empowering supplier would be someone who source raw materials and labour locally to enhance economy, job creation and living standards in a particular area of business.

Are you BBBEE compliant...

Rights versus Previledges

It has dawned upon my ignorant mind that some rights come at a price and are nothing more than previledges afforded to the few who did not take bait.

If the municipality was labouring under the impression that the right to free basic electricity which the right to water is so dependent on would not be compromised by eskom by ceasing to supply electricity due to non - payment of services, then the community is looking at a dark future.

It is therefore fair to say that there are no rights without responsibilities. Such should be amended in our constitution Because at the end of the day we would be having more right and no jobs or money to afford those necessities termed rights. A right to education comes at a price, universities are not cheap. #feesmustfall remember...

It is however our responsibility to pay for  those basic fees like lights on the streets... They are there for our own safety not a right - previledge. No court will find the government guilty of going back on their word because they were not detailed enough about what those rights mean to an average South African.

No wonder so many municipalities are drowning in debt. It is because those previledges were called rights not responsibilities at the beginning which sent a wrong message to the public. Everybody now feels some sort of entitlement to things we should be paying for.
Let us all take responsibility for our future and the future of our generations to come.
